Ally had a mixed relationship with exercise growing up. After being unwell in her late teens, exercise was what helped her most to pull through and rebuild her physical and mental wellbeing. She wanted to take that experience and use it to help others do the same.
What she loves is connecting with clients and seeing the impact of exercise on their health in real time, physically and mentally. Patients are usually surprised that it is not just "here are some exercises". There is a lot of assessment and clinical reasoning behind everything, it is highly individualised, and there is almost always a way to keep someone moving, even in pain.
The moment that stuck with her: a client hesitant to load their lower body after injury who built confidence over time and eventually did the movement they had been avoiding for months. Watching the shift from fear to "I can actually do this" is why she does the job.
Ally's advice if you have been putting it off“Do not wait until things get really bad. Getting help early gives you clarity and a plan, and most people feel better knowing what they can do instead of what to avoid.”
