Hailey has always been active and loved sport through school. Completing a Certificate III in Fitness in Grade 12 showed her how much she enjoyed learning about exercise and helping people improve their health, and that pointed her straight at exercise physiology.
For Hailey it is all about the people and the relationships. Helping someone reach a goal that matters to them, whether that is less pain, better mobility, standing up from a chair more easily or getting back to something they enjoy. Sometimes it is not about exercise at all, just being there to listen.
Her favourite moment was a client who started out hesitant and fearful of exercise, then walked into a session and announced she had joined a local gym on her own. Not the biggest physical achievement, but it showed how far her confidence had come. Patients are often surprised at how much of the job is understanding goals and barriers and building confidence, not just prescribing exercises.
Hailey's advice if you have been putting it off“Do not wait for things to become bad enough before seeking help. The sooner you address it, the easier it is to manage and the better the outcome.”
CrossFit classes, wandering the Sunday markets, and catching up with friends over coffee.
